Falconets placed in Pot 2 as Germany misses out for the first time

Nigeria U20 women’s head coach Moses Aduku and team administrator Kelechi Omeke will attend Friday’s draw ceremony for the 12th FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals, which will be held at the EC1 Cultural Centre in Łódź, Poland.

Nigeria, Benin Republic, Ghana and Tanzania emerged over the weekend as Africa’s four representatives at the 24‑nation tournament, scheduled to run from 5 – 27 September in the Polish cities of Łódź, Katowice, Sosnowiec and Bielsko‑Biała.

All 24 qualified teams have been divided into four pots of six teams each. From these pots, six groups of four teams will be formed as the tournament continues to capture a global audience.

Poland 2026 raises the stakes further with six debutants—hosts Poland, Portugal, New Caledonia, Ecuador, Tanzania and Benin Republic—while Germany, who previously edged Nigeria in the 2010 and 2014 finals, will be absent for the first time ever.

European representation includes hosts Poland, France, Italy, England, Portugal and Spain, while Asia is represented by China, South Korea, Japan and North Korea.

North and Central America will feature Mexico, USA and Costa Rica; South America will have Brazil, Ecuador, Argentina and Colombia; and Oceania will be represented by New Zealand and New Caledonia.

The Falconets, a regular presence at the competition, have been drawn into Pot 2 alongside the USA, Canada, Colombia, Mexico and New Zealand. Ghana, making its eighth appearance, will be placed in Pot 3 with South Korea, England, Argentina, China and Italy.
