Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has expressed deep concern over the plight of schoolchildren who are currently sheltering in a forest after being seized by terrorists.
Speaking during the EndBadGovernance protest in Lagos on Friday, Falana urged for the immediate release of the children kidnapped in Oyo and Borno States, noting that they are enduring harsh conditions in the forest.
“Those kids are suffering. No medical attention, no food for them. And so for us as Nigerians, all of us are in custody, one way or the other,” he said.
Falana also highlighted that the economic difficulties afflicting the nation are man‑made, asserting that Nigeria possesses the means to improve the well‑being of its citizens.
“We are also protesting hunger in the land, poverty in the land, and we are calling on the government that there is no basis for poverty in Nigeria. Our country has enormous material, natural resources and capital resources to make our people happy,” he added.
