Reactions are pouring in after the reported elimination of the world’s most active terrorist in Nigeria, as announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to a Truth Social post made by Trump on Saturday morning, the terrorist known as Abu‑Bilal al‑Minuki was killed on Friday night during a joint operation by American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria, which was directed by the president.
Trump stated that the individual was the second‑in‑command of ISIS worldwide and had been terrorising African communities.
In response, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) mobilization platform, ADC Vanguard, posted on X that the Nigerian Army could address the security crisis when “properly supported.”
The post read: “This is the kind of news that should remind every Nigerian that our military, when properly supported, equipped, coordinated, and backed with solid intelligence, can deliver results that shake even global terror networks.”
All Progressives Congress (APC) member Ayekooto Akindele also expressed excitement in a Facebook post, noting that the terrorist, “who has been living in Nigeria,” had finally been eliminated.
He wrote: “ISIS number 2 man in the World has been living in Nigeria. He has just been killed by US/Nigerian forces. Say no to terrorism.”
However, social media influencer @Millishield01 questioned why Nigerian forces had no prior knowledge of the terrorist’s activities in the country.
“Does it mean no Nigerian law enforcement agencies know this top terrorist was hiding in Nigeria?” he asked.
