Ex‑Super Eagles coach says “I’m done” after frustration with NFF’s ineptitude.

Former Super Eagles assistant coach Fatai Amoo has explained why he believes the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) administrative problems are harming Nigerian football, according to Afrik Foot.

Amoo, who previously managed Shooting Stars, has coached at every level of Nigerian football and has repeatedly voiced concerns when his wages were delayed or unpaid.

In a recent interview with Brila, he criticised the poor condition of football in Nigeria, particularly the lack of infrastructure needed to develop players.

“I think our football is retrogressing in terms of players and results,” Amoo said.

“For me, I have tried my best. You do your best and leave the rest. Nobody can be champion forever.”

“From my understanding, the reason why we aren’t doing well is that we have left so many things undone, and we aren’t trying to do it right—especially those that are taking charge of football in Nigeria today.”

“And of course, it’s the Nigeria Football Federation, isn’t it?”

“I think if we can go back and look at what we have not done well, and try to correct them, I think we will bounce back,” he added.

Super Eagles decline: Is Fatai Amoo right about the NFF

Several former Super Eagles players and staff have criticised the governing body, and recent social‑media clips have highlighted the poor condition of the Flamingoes’ hostel.

Beyond player welfare, Nigeria has only one standard pitch suitable for international matches, meaning the country cannot host major tournaments in the near future.

“For example, we want to talk about our football pitches, especially at the national level. You’re talking about hosting, most of the time they say Nigeria doesn’t have the pitches. It’s part of our problems. It shouldn’t be that,” the ex‑Sunshine Stars coach said.

Former Super Eagles and Leeds United defender Sam Sodje also criticised the NFF, saying off‑pitch issues are preventing a talented group of players from qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
