 282 Nigerians to arrive from South Africa today

The Federal Government has announced that the fourth evacuation flight conveying another batch of stranded Nigerians from South Africa is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, on Thursday.

According to the ministry, the Air Peace-operated flight is carrying 284 passengers, including 272 adults and 12 infants.

It stated that two government officials are also on board the flight, bringing the total number of returnees expected on arrival to 282.

The statement said, “The expected time of arrival of the 4th evacuation flight from South Africa today, operated by Air Peace at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, is 7.30pm.”

The latest flight is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing evacuation exercise for Nigerians willing to return home following the recent wave of xenophobic attacks and related security concerns in South Africa.

It is the fourth evacuation flight arranged as part of the exercise.
