Dr. Esther Oludayo Afolabi, a retired school principal, entrepreneur, and former faculty member at Adeleke University in Ede, will be buried on June 26 and 27, 2026, in Modakeke, Osun State.
The Afolabi family announced that a Service of Songs and Wake‑Keep will take place on Friday, June 26, at her home, Castle of Mercy and Grace, Phase 3, Moremi Estate, opposite Energy Petrol Station on Ile‑Ife Road. The service will begin at 4 p.m.
The funeral service and thanksgiving will be held on Saturday, June 27, at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Anu, Modakeke DCC Headquarters on Urban/Ondo Road, starting at 10 a.m., after a private burial. Afterwards, guests will be invited to Ojaja Resort on Ibadan Road, Ile‑Ife, for a reception honoring the deceased.
Afolabi died at 71. She came from the well‑known Baba Akande/Baba Abiye family of Ede. A devoted Christian and people‑loving educator, she excelled in education and ministry. She earned a master’s degree from LIFE Theological Seminary in Lagos and later completed a PhD at Adeleke University in Ede, Osun State.
Throughout her career, she contributed significantly to education as a school administrator and also worked as an entrepreneur and academic. Family and colleagues described her as a woman of faith, compassion, and service whose life touched many.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor E. O. Afolabi, her children, and other family members.
