EPL: Xabi Alonso makes one huge demand from Chelsea

Xabi Alonso, the former manager of Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid, has put forward a significant demand to Chelsea as he considers a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

The request is notable because Chelsea’s ownership group, BlueCo, handles transfer and sporting decisions independently.

Rumours that Alonso might return to Liverpool have subsided, as the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, have chosen to keep manager Arne Slot in place.

According to The Touchline, Alonso believes he can elevate Chelsea to a level comparable to Paris Saint‑Germain under the leadership of Luis Enrique.

On his X account, which has 1.6 million followers, Alonso stated that he wants “full control over the squad and key sporting decisions.”
