EPL: Why I Turned Down a €200 Million Offer to Leave Manchester United – Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has revealed why he declined a €200 million contract offer from Saudi Arabia last summer.

Speculation about Fernandes’ future at Old Trafford has been intense, and he has now explained how close he was to leaving the club.

The 31‑year‑old said he was driven by values he wanted to pass on to his children, rather than by money.

“Instead of becoming the richest person from my town ever, I want to live my dreams. And I want to pass these values on to my children,” Fernandes told the Diary of a CEO podcast.

“Look, my wife chose to live my dream with me when I was still 17. I have been with her since age 16. At 17 I went to Italy and earned €1.7k per month. There was a lot of uncertainty. There was nothing guaranteed. My wife had her own life, her own dreams, and she said, ‘I am going to help you,’ and that’s what she did.”

“Today, we have a beautiful family, with two beautiful kids.”
