EPL: Sunday Oliseh Says He Realised Arsenal Would Win the Title on That Day

Former Super Eagles captain and coach Sunday Oliseh revealed that he had been convinced as early as October that Arsenal would win the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners secured the championship after a 22‑year wait, sparking celebrations among fans worldwide.

Oliseh said that the club’s defensive organization and discipline under manager Mikel Arteta were the main reasons he believed Arsenal were destined for the title.

“It is gratifying for me to state that it was evident they would be champions as of October,” Oliseh told SuperSport’s Monday Night Football.

“One aspect that many people often overlook in football is that your strength lies not in attacking flair, but in your defense.”

“At Arsenal, the manager is not particularly known for creative flair or finishing, but he has a strong sense of organization. One significant move he made was to remove players like Aubameyang, and he gave the captaincy to a player from a region where players are rarely withdrawn.”

“When he is your captain and he affirms, ‘yes coach,’ it allows you to shape the team according to your vision.”

Arsenal finished the season at the top of the table with 85 points, seven points ahead of second‑placed Manchester City.
