EPL: Merson urges Alonso to recall Chelsea striker to fill squad gaps

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has urged Chelsea’s incoming manager, Xabi Alonso, to bring striker Nicolas Jackson back to Stamford Bridge once he takes charge.

Merson says the Blues need new players this summer after missing out on Champions League qualification.

He reminded listeners that Chelsea had loaned Jackson to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Speaking on the “The Good, The Bad & The Football” podcast, Merson stated, “Chelsea need a manager that the fans are grateful to have at the club, and they have that now with Xabi Alonso because he’s a top manager.”

He added, “They need players, and they need a clear‑out. I would get Nicolas Jackson back, I would rip Jackson back.”
