Hon. Dozie Ogenyi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Enugu State governorship, called on his supporters to stay calm after party members waited for hours without election officials arriving.
The NDC held its primary elections nationwide on Friday, but the process in Enugu State, where the party is divided, proved particularly problematic. Party members stood in line for extended periods, yet no officials appeared at any of the scheduled venues.
Ogenyi, accompanied by senatorial aspirant Bishop Oscar Okwudili Ossai and other NDC leaders, toured several local government areas. He was greeted by large crowds of supporters at each stop.
During his visit, Ogenyi highlighted the absence of election officials despite the high turnout of party members. He urged the NDC faithful to remain patient, stating that the party’s national leadership would soon provide clear guidance.
Speaking to supporters in Nsukka, Igbo-Eze South, Uzo-Uwani, and other localities, he remarked, “Those expected to come from Enugu to conduct the primaries have caused unnecessary delay.”
Our correspondent noted that in Nsukka LGA, supporters formed long queues behind their preferred aspirants while waiting in vain for officials to arrive.
