Enugu State Government has imposed restrictions on human and vehicular movement in six Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the Enugu North Senatorial District during the Saturday by‑election.
The directive was issued in Enugu by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, and released to the press on Friday.
The affected LGAs are Igbo‑Etiti, Igbo‑Eze North, Igbo‑Eze South, Nsukka, Udenu and Uzo‑Uwani.
According to the statement, the restriction will be in force from midnight (12 am) to 6 pm to ensure a peaceful, orderly and credible election.
INEC staff, security personnel, accredited election observers, media practitioners and other duly authorised election workers are exempt from the restriction.
Security agencies have been directed to enforce strict compliance with the movement limits.
The government urged residents to behave peacefully and fulfill their civic duties in line with electoral guidelines.
It also called on political parties, candidates and supporters to remain law‑abiding before, during and after the election.
The government thanked the people for their cooperation and understanding, and wished the residents of Enugu North a peaceful and successful election. (NAN)
