Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has assured members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the state’s upcoming primaries will be conducted transparently, freely, and fairly.
He delivered this assurance while speaking to residents of his local government area, Nsit Ubium, during a special consultation visit at the home of local political leader Senator Effiong Bob, emphasizing that the state has remained peaceful and should continue to be so throughout the process.
The governor praised the community for its support and cooperation, particularly for uniting in a single voice ahead of the primaries and the 2027 general election.
“I consider it most expedient for me to see and notify my people officially of my intention to go for second term as governor in the year 2027.”
“As you will support me, we will also support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other APC candidates,” he said.
He added that, given the current climate in the state, the primaries scheduled to begin today, Friday, May 15 2026, would proceed smoothly and without complications.
Eno urged all participants to conduct themselves with decorum and responsibility, stressing that the state’s peace must not be compromised for individual or group interests.
He called on party members to respect leadership at every level, to attend their ward centers to vote in the primaries, and to help ensure a successful exercise.
Bob expressed appreciation for the governor’s impactful leadership over the past three years, noting that the community was proud of his performance.
He praised the people for consistently uniting to support quality leadership and governance, as demonstrated by the unanimous backing of the Eno administration.
