Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi won the men’s shot put at the Znamensky Memorial in Russia.
The victory cemented his status as one of Africa’s top field athletes and one of Nigeria’s most reliable performers on the world stage.
Enekwechi’s winning throw measured 21.27 metres, a distance that none of his competitors surpassed during the competition.
Mexico’s Juan Vazquez Gomez took silver with a 20.13‑metre effort, while Romania’s Andrei Rares Toader earned bronze with a 20.02‑metre throw.
Although the silver and bronze contests were close, Enekwechi’s superior distance left no doubt that he claimed the gold.
The triumph in Russia adds another significant achievement to Enekwechi’s growing list of international successes.
He has long been a dependable figure in Nigerian field events, representing the country at several major global competitions and consistently performing well on the biggest stages.
