The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has suspended Malam Rabi’u Yusuf, the Village Head of Rikadawa, following accusations that he participated in the unauthorized sale of farmland in Madobi Local Government Area.

The decision was announced on Wednesday during a hearing at the Kano Emirate Council. The announcement was delivered by the District Head of Kano, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim Ahmad Matawalle, and the Waziri of Kano, Alhaji Sa’d Shehu Gidado.

Complaints against the suspended village head and Isah Dahiru, the son of a district head, were presented to the Emirate. Both were alleged to have sold portions of farmland that belonged to the late District Head of Madobi, Alhaji Sale Musa Kwankwaso, without the owner’s knowledge or approval.

Representatives of the Emirate said that their investigation confirmed the village head’s involvement in the alleged transaction. They described the act as a betrayal of the trust and authority that the Kano Emirate places in traditional leaders.

One of the complainants, Muddasir Dahiru, told the Emirate Council that he had submitted a petition after discovering that the district head’s son and the village head had allegedly sold parts of the farmland to him without obtaining the owner’s consent.

The Emirate has not yet announced any further disciplinary actions, as investigations into the matter continue.
