Police in Ekiti have confirmed that Mrs. Grace Ogunleye, the vice‑chairman of Ilejemeje Local Government Area, was rescued after being kidnapped on Wednesday while she was returning home.

The confirmation came from a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, on Thursday in Ado‑Ekiti.

Abutu said the victim was freed following a joint operation that involved the police, the military, other security agencies and local security personnel.

He added that sustained pressure from the security team on the suspected kidnappers led to the successful rescue.

Abutu also noted that the state commissioner of police, Falade Adegoroye, has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances of the abduction and to apprehend those responsible. (NAN)
