On Saturday, armed personnel from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the Amotekun Corps were deployed to the polling unit where Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji was expected to vote.

The officials from the three agencies arrived at the polling centre simultaneously, indicating a coordinated security effort.

They were positioned strategically inside and around the polling area to maintain order, deter vote buying, and prevent any violence that could disrupt the electoral process.

The local government election is taking place across Ekiti State’s 16 local government areas under the supervision of the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC), with voters choosing chairmen and councillors for the councils.

Participating parties include the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party, Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Action Peoples Party (APP), and Action Democratic Party (ADP), among others.

Political analysts and observers are monitoring the exercise closely, seeing it as a key indicator of public sentiment and political strength in the state.
