Ekiti Local Government Vice Chairman Abducted, Rescued by Security Forces

Grace Ogunleye, the Vice Chairman of Ilejemeje Local Government, was abducted on 20 May 2026 by unidentified assailants and has now been rescued unharmed.

The police spokesperson, SP Abutu Sunday, confirmed the recovery in a statement released to reporters in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.

He said the successful operation was the result of a coordinated effort involving the police, the military, other security agencies, and local security personnel, who carried out a rescue mission and applied pressure on the kidnappers.

Commissioner of Police CP Falade Micheal has ordered a comprehensive investigation to determine the motive behind the kidnapping and to identify those responsible.
