Ekiti guber: Oyebanji commends voters for ‘impressive turnout’ confident of victory

ADO‑EKITI—Governor Biodun Oyebanji praised the large turnout at Saturday’s governorship election, saying it demonstrated the people’s commitment to democracy and good governance.

He expressed satisfaction with the orderly and peaceful conduct of the exercise, noting that many eligible voters had arrived early to participate.

Speaking with journalists shortly after casting his vote at Ward 006, Unit 003, Oyebanji’s Compound in the Okelele Area of Ikogosi‑Ekiti, the governor addressed minor challenges reported in some polling units. He assured the public that these hiccups would not lead to disenfranchisement.

“There may be glitches in any process, but I am satisfied with the assurances I have received that such issues will be addressed. I appeal to our people to remain patient with INEC and allow the process to be completed,” he said.

Oyebanji said the enthusiasm of voters reflected growing confidence in the democratic system and a desire to shape the state’s future through the ballot.

He noted that reports from across the state indicated many polling units had seen impressive participation, with citizens patiently waiting to exercise their civic responsibility.

“So far, reports across the state have been positive. The election is going on smoothly. People are exercising their franchise, and the turnout is impressive. I am glad that people listened to our call to come out and vote, because there is a link between today’s process and their future,” he added.

While praising the electorate for maintaining peace throughout the process, Oyebanji urged them to keep the same decorum until the election’s conclusion.

The governor also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their conduct, noting that the peaceful atmosphere in many communities was encouraging.

Oyebanji expressed optimism that the election outcome would reflect the people’s wishes and urged all stakeholders to uphold democratic values and respect the sanctity of the electoral process.
