Ekiti Governorship Election: Live Updates and Results

Voters in Ekiti State will head to the polls today, Saturday, June 20, 2026, to elect a governor for a four‑year term in an off‑cycle governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that residents of the state have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), which are required to cast a ballot.

According to the latest INEC figures, 97.1 percent of the state’s registered voters have obtained their PVCs and are eligible to vote today.

Out of a total of 1,059,360 registered voters, 1,028,929 have collected their PVCs, leaving 30,431 PVCs unclaimed.

The main candidates competing for the 1,028,929 votes are the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) flag‑bearer, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who seeks a second four‑year term; Oluwole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); and Oluwadare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Other candidates in the race include Opeyemi Falegan (Accord), Oyebanji Olajuyin (Labour Party), Blessing Abegunde (New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP), Bidemi Awogbemi (All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA), Ayodeji Ojo (Action Democratic Party, ADP), Samuel Akande (African Action Congress, AAC), Olaniyi Ayodele (People’s Redemption Party, PRP), Victor Adetunji (Zenith Labour Party, ZLP), and Olu Omotoso (Action Alliance).

Additional contenders are Joseph Anifowose (Allied Peoples Movement, APM) and Ayodele Osinkolu (Young Progressive Party).

However, the contest is expected to come down to incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji and ADC candidate Oluwadare Bejide.
