Former Senate President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Chairman David Mark, together with former Osun State Governor and ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, criticised the performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in Ekiti State and expressed confidence that the ADC will win the upcoming governorship election.

The comments were made on Tuesday in Ado‑Ekiti during a large rally held ahead of the June 20 off‑cycle governorship poll. Thousands of supporters gathered to show solidarity with the ADC candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide.

Mark urged Ekiti residents to support the ADC, arguing that the party offers a credible alternative capable of addressing economic challenges and “rescuing Ekiti from poverty.” He said the ruling party had failed to deliver meaningful benefits to citizens.

Aregbesola dismissed claims that the ADC lacks the structure to challenge the APC, stating that elections would ultimately determine the true strength of political parties. He expressed confidence that the opposition would prevail if the process is conducted freely and fairly.

He warned the APC not to underestimate the opposition, saying that assumptions about political dominance could prove misleading at the polls. “If truly they want to go to the poll without writing results, they can never win that election,” he said, insisting that the outcome would reflect the will of the people if properly conducted.

The rally is part of the ADC’s intensified campaigning ahead of the Ekiti governorship election, as parties continue to mobilise support across the state.
