On Saturday, voters in Iyin‑Ekiti drove away Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officers who had entered the polling unit amid the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

According to reports, the EFCC personnel had entered the site to observe and address suspected vote‑buying activities.

Voters reportedly expressed anger at their presence, questioned the officers’ deployment, and demanded that they leave immediately.

As a result, the anti‑graft operatives were forced to depart, allowing the voting process to continue without further interruption.

The incident occurred against a backdrop of widespread vote‑buying allegations affecting the governorship race across various parts of Ekiti State.
