 Bamidele, Fasuyi, Adaramodu emerge senatorial candidates

The All Progressives Congress (APC) concluded its senatorial primaries across Ekiti State’s three districts on Monday, announcing Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, and Senator Yemi Adaramodu as the party’s candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The primary results, held on 18 May 2026, were formally announced by Asipa Wasiu, chairman of the senatorial primary election committee.

In Ekiti Central, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele ran unopposed and secured 29,586 valid votes, becoming the APC candidate for the district.

The Ekiti North primary was highly competitive. Incumbent Senator Cyril Fasuyi defeated former Senator Ayo Arise and two other aspirants, receiving 14,179 votes. Senator Ayo Arise garnered 4,868 votes, Bamisaye Oladipupo 3,694 votes, and Oluwadare Owolabi 2,836 votes.

In Ekiti South, Senator Yemi Adaramodu won the ticket with 12,200 votes. His nearest rival, former Senate Minority Leader Biodun Olujimi, received 7,420 votes, while Bamidele Faparusi obtained 5,502 votes.

Wasiu, in a statement, certified the results: “In Ekiti Central Senatorial District, I, Wasiu Adedoyin, Chairman of the Senatorial Primary Election Committee, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the Ekiti South Senatorial Primary Election held on the 18th day of May, 2026. That Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, having satisfied the requirements of the APC Constitution and Guidelines, and having scored the highest number of valid votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and is returned elected as the party’s senatorial candidate for Ekiti Central Senatorial District. In Ekiti North Senatorial District, that Senator Cyril Fasuyi, having satisfied the requirements of the APC Constitution and Guidelines, and having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and is returned elected as the party’s senatorial candidate for Ekiti North Senatorial District. In Ekiti South Senatorial District, that Senator Yemi Adaramodu having satisfied the requirements of the APC Constitution and Guidelines, and having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and is returned elected as the party’s senatorial candidate for Ekiti South Senatorial District.”
