The representative for Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, Kolawole David Akinlayo, voiced confidence in the ruling party’s prospects in the current Ekiti State governorship election. He cited a high voter turnout in his constituency and strong backing for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re‑election bid.
After casting his ballot at Igogo Ward 2, Polling Unit 16 in Ikosun‑Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area, Akinlayo told reporters that many residents had turned out to vote for his party’s candidate, the incumbent governor seeking a second term.
The lawmaker described the turnout as “massive,” attributing it to sustained grassroots mobilisation and intensive campaigns led by party officials before the election.
He said the ruling party had carried out rigorous outreach across the three local government areas in his constituency, educating residents about the importance of voting and encouraging support for the governor’s re‑election.
Akinlayo added that, as part of efforts to mobilise supporters and ease economic hardship, he distributed food items to residents in the three local government areas on the eve of the election.
“The candidate of our party is the governor of the state. The governor is running for a second term and people are out to vote for him and return him as governor,” he said.
“We’ve campaigned rigorously. Yesterday, we advised them to come out as early as possible to vote for our candidate, which I believe they have done and will continue to do because they believe in us and they will cast their votes for the governor.”
