Biodun Oyebanji reaffirmed his strong commitment to maintaining peace before, during, and after the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State.
The pledge was made in Ado‑Ekiti when Oyebanji signed a peace accord with 11 other governorship candidates representing the parties contesting the election.
The accord was organized by the National Peace Committee in partnership with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The signing was witnessed by the National Chairman of the committee, Abdulsalami Abubakar, who was represented by Martin Luther Agwai; the NPC Convener, Matthew Hassan Kukah; the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu; and INEC Chairman, Ojo Amupitan, among others.
After signing the document, Governor Oyebanji noted that his party had just finished a local‑government campaign tour across the state without any incidents of violence. He said this reflected the All Progressives Congress’s commitment to peace and his administration’s resolve to ensure harmony in Ekiti.
