Eid el‑Kabir: Governor Idris Calls for Prayers for Peace and Progress in Nigeria’s Kebbi State

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has called on residents to maintain peace, unity, and compassion as Muslims throughout the state observe Eid‑el‑Kabir.

In his Sallah message, the governor urged citizens to use the occasion to pray for peace, stability, and ongoing progress in Kebbi State and Nigeria, while also encouraging support for the less privileged in their communities.

Idris said that Eid‑el‑Kabir represents sacrifice, obedience, love, and complete submission to Allah’s will, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS). He urged people to reflect on the virtues of tolerance, generosity, and brotherhood during the celebration.

The governor also warned residents to remain law‑abiding and to resist political manipulation ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that voters should evaluate candidates on integrity, credibility, and performance rather than on empty promises.

Addressing insecurity in parts of the state, Idris assured the public of his administration’s commitment to strengthening security measures and supporting security agencies in confronting emerging threats.

He acknowledged that insecurity is a national challenge but stated that the state government would continue to provide logistical and operational support to security forces to protect lives and property.

The governor also appealed for patience regarding the persistent electricity challenges in the state, assuring residents that efforts were underway to improve power supply through cooperation with the electricity distribution company and a committee tasked with finding lasting solutions.

He praised traditional rulers, religious leaders, security agencies, and labour unions for their role in maintaining peace and stability in the state.

Governor Idris wished Muslims in Kebbi State and across Nigeria a peaceful, joyful, and blessed Eid‑el‑Kabir celebration.
