The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, urged Nigerians to adopt sacrifice and unity as the country moves toward progress in the run‑up to the 2027 elections.
In a goodwill address marking the Eid al‑Kabir celebration, Akpabio said the nation is at a pivotal moment where citizens must unite and make collective efforts for national development.
He highlighted that the festival’s core values—sacrifice, obedience, and compassion—are exactly what Nigeria needs to overcome its current challenges.
“Eid el‑Kabir reminds us of the faith, obedience and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim. These are the values we must reflect in our lives as a nation,” he said.
Akpabio stressed that Nigerians must set aside differences and work together, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
“Nigeria needs sacrifice, unity and a sense of national purpose if we are to move forward,” he added.
He said the country is experiencing a difficult period that requires patience and understanding from citizens, noting that the sacrifices made today will shape the nation’s future.
According to him, “the sacrifices we make now will determine the kind of Nigeria we leave behind for the next generation.”
The Senate President also urged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, security and economic stability in the country.
He called on citizens to remember members of the armed forces who are fighting insecurity, as well as farmers who are working to ensure food production despite challenges.
Akpabio linked the message of Eid to the policies of the current administration, saying the Renewed Hope Agenda is built on collective effort and long‑term commitment.
He prayed for God’s guidance for the country’s leaders and asked for healing and unity across the nation.
Akpabio concluded by wishing Muslims in Nigeria and around the world a peaceful and joyful Eid‑el‑Kabir celebration.
