Beninese top-flight club Buffles du Borgou have appointed experienced Nigerian tactician Stanley Eguma as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Eguma will take charge of the former Benin Ligue 1 champions as they prepare for the new campaign, bringing with him a wealth of experience from the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.

The seasoned coach is widely regarded as one of the NPFL’s most accomplished managers.

He guided Rivers United to the league title in the 2021/22 season, and enjoyed an eight-year stint with the Port Harcourt club, making him the league’s longest-serving coach during that period.

A former assistant coach of Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles, Eguma also had a spell in charge of nine-time NPFL champions Enyimba.

The CAF A Licence holder’s move to Buffles du Borgou marks the first time in his coaching career that he will manage a club outside Nigeria.

Buffles du Borgou will be hoping Eguma’s experience, and winning pedigree can help transform the team into genuine contenders for domestic honours in the upcoming season.

The Parakou-based club finished fifth in the Benin Premier League last season.

Founded in 1976, Buffles du Borgou are one of Benin’s most successful clubs, having won the Benin Ligue 1 title five times, the Benin Cup three times, and the Benin Super Cup once.
