EFCC obtains temporary seizure of two properties in Ado‑Ekiti

The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has obtained an interim attachment of a lounge and a four‑bedroom bungalow in Ado‑Ekiti.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Ilorin granted the EFCC’s application, noting that the Commission had met all legal prerequisites for the court to order the attachment.

According to the agency, the attached properties are: Town Tavern Lounge, No. 1 Ikere Road, off Florence Court School, Ado‑Ekiti, and a four‑bedroom bungalow on Florence Court, Irewolede Estate, Ado‑Ekiti.

The properties belong to 43‑year‑old Olorunbukunmi Taiwo, who is accused of defrauding Lady Anazia Colina Kenechukwu of N1.980 billion.

In the complaint, Kenechukwu alleges that Taiwo claimed to have secured a road‑construction contract from the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and asked her to finance the project.

She says she discovered the scam when Taiwo stopped answering her calls, ignored her text messages, and refused to return the money.

On Monday, May 25 2026, EFCC counsel Cosmas Ugwu presented the case to the judge, urging him to approve the interim attachment.

Justice Awogboro found the application meritorious and granted the interim attachment of the properties.
