EFCC Arrests Former Power Minister Mamman Saleh, Who Has Been Convicted of Corruption

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained former Minister of Power Mamman Saleh, who was recently sentenced to 75 years in prison.

EFCC Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoyede said the fugitive was apprehended on Tuesday morning at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the Rigasa area of Kaduna State.

According to the commission’s head, Saleh was taken into custody together with two Nigerians believed to have been protecting him.

Olukoyede, while reaffirming the agency’s commitment to eradicating corruption in Nigeria, warned that those engaged in such activities should desist, adding that the commission’s vigilance will expose them.

Last week, Justice James Omotosho of a Federal High Court declared Saleh wanted after sentencing him to 75 years for siphoning more than N33 billion from the Mambila and Zungeru power projects.

The court imposed the jail term after convicting him on all 12 criminal charges filed by the EFCC.
