Edo State University revokes lecturer's professorial rank

Ambrose Alli University (AAU) in Ekpoma, Edo State, has revoked the professorial rank previously awarded to Dr. Edomwonyi Omon Edwin.

The university announced the decision in a statement signed by Mrs. Oluwayomi Agbebaku, the registrar.

The statement, posted on AAU’s Facebook page, said the decision followed the Governing Council’s 241st regular meeting on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

It noted that Dr. Edomwonyi, from the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, had been promoted to professor by the university.

The withdrawal was due to an alleged serious breach of the university’s Regulations and Schemes Governing Senior Staff, 2017, as amended.
