Edo Government Demolishes Building Linked to Cultist and Ritual Activities

The Edo State Government has demolished a building in Uromi, Esan North‑East Local Government Area, which authorities say was linked to cultism and ritual activities.

In a statement released Tuesday by Governor Monday Okpebholo’s media aide, Patrick Ebojele, officials also sealed another property as part of a renewed effort to curb crime and criminal networks.

Ebojele explained that the operation was conducted under “Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists.”

The task force included the Edo State Security Corps, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies, all operating under the direction of senior security officials attached to the governor.

John Izegaegbe, Secretary of the Edo State Security Squad, said the intervention followed intelligence reports and field findings in the area.

Izegaegbe added that one of the sealed buildings in Ebhoijie‑Uromi was connected to a disturbing discovery made in June.

“We are here on the order of Governor Monday Okpebholo, and, on getting here, we discovered that it is a ritual and murder case,” he said.

“It was further discovered, according to medical experts, that the body found in the building, which is the body of their gatekeeper, identified as Mildah Dalandi, had been decomposing for about one month in the apartment,” he added.

The state government reiterated that investigations are ongoing and assured residents that efforts to dismantle criminal networks across communities will continue.
