Ebonyi Commissioner Resigns and Joins the PDP in 2027

Mr Felix Igboke, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Project Monitoring, has resigned from his position and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Igboke announced his defection on Sunday at a PDP event in Isu, Onicha Local Government Area. The gathering was attended by party leaders, executives and supporters. He said he had moved to the PDP with more than 10,000 supporters in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

He described the switch as a “homecoming,” noting that his political career began with the PDP. Igboke said his decision was based on the need to align with a platform that would better serve the people and promote inclusive development in Ebonyi State.

“I am happy to return to the political platform that built me. I served as a councillor, development centre coordinator and chairman of Onicha Local Government Area under the same party before I joined the APC,” he said. “I am grateful to the PDP family in Ebonyi State, especially the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma‑Odii, the incoming governor.”

Mr Chukwuma Igwe, the state chairman of the PDP, welcomed the defectors and described Igboke’s return as a significant boost to the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 elections. He said the PDP had regained strength across the state and was well positioned to reclaim power in the next election cycle.

According to Igwe, the influx of thousands of supporters into the party demonstrates growing public confidence in the PDP and its leadership.

Mr Eni‑Uduma Chima, the PDP candidate for the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency seat in 2027, also spoke at the event. He said the party is experiencing rapid growth across Ebonyi and expressed optimism that the expanding support base will translate into electoral victories. He urged party members to remain united and committed to strengthening grassroots structures.

The event drew party faithful, community leaders and supporters from various parts of the state, all of whom pledged continued support for the PDP.
