A man identified as the personal driver of an Anglican bishop in Delta State, referred to only as Bishop Chinedu, has been arrested for collaborating with kidnappers in an attempt to kill his employer.

The DAILY POST correspondent was present at the Anambra State Police Command headquarters when the driver and an accomplice were brought into the facility.

While details remain limited, State Police Commissioner CP Ikioye Orutugu confirmed that the suspects have just been taken into custody and that further investigation will clarify the circumstances of their alleged actions.

Orutugu told reporters, “Don’t mind, details will be revealed to you soon after we conclude our investigations, as they have just been arrested.”

According to DAILY POST, the primary suspect – the bishop’s private driver, whose name has not been released – allegedly conspired with kidnappers to seize the clergyman’s Toyota Landcruiser SUV. The plan reportedly went wrong, resulting in the bishop’s death and the theft of the vehicle.

Orutugu added, “They brought the vehicle into Anambra to sell it, and the man you see with him was the one who wanted to buy the vehicle, but in the process, they were arrested.”

Police officers prevented journalists from interviewing the suspects, emphasizing that the investigation was still ongoing.
