Done Deal:Nigerian Striker Joins Finnish Club HJK

Finnish club HJK has announced the signing of Nigerian teenager David Temidayo Olorunfemi, according to Completesports.com.

The club signed the 19‑year‑old from Tripple 44 Football Academy in Nigeria.

Olorunfemi has agreed a contract that runs until the end of the 2027 season, with an option to extend for an additional year.

The player arrived in Finland last weekend and has already begun training at the club’s facilities.

The striker says he is eager to enjoy a successful spell with the club.

“It feels great to come here, this is a great opportunity for me. Striving towards domestic success and Euro competitions is exactly the kind of challenge I have been looking for. I can’t wait to help the team as best I can,” he told the club’s official website.

“I got a really good first impression of Helsinki. The food, weather and scenery are amazing. I look forward to settling here and getting to know more.”

Competition From Rival Clubs

HJK secured the forward’s signature after competing with clubs from Sweden and Denmark.

“We had been watching David for a long time. He’s really good at protecting the ball and an excellent finisher, and these qualities have been very visible since his first practice here,” said HJK’s sports director Petri Vuorinen.

“He has adapted extremely well in Finland in a few days and he is passionate about being able to play.”

Olorunfemi is the latest talent to emerge from Tripple 44, joining a growing list of players from the academy who have begun to make their mark in Europe, including Ibrahim Adewale and Emmanuel Godwin.

HJK is regarded as Finland’s most successful club, having won 33 league titles, 14 Finnish Cups and six League Cups.
