Falconets striker Janet Akekoromowei has sealed a move to Portuguese champions Benfica,Completesports.com reports.
Akekoromowei penned a two-year contract with an option for a further two years.
The 18-year-old expressed her great satisfaction with the opportunity to represent Benfica and highlighted the privilege of joining the club.
” I’m happy! Benfica is a great club , it’s a privilege to be here to help the team win trophies and do beautiful things,” Akekoromowei told the club’s official website.

The striker also revealed her desire to be part of the Benfica family and give her all on the field to help her teammates achieve their goals set for the 2026/27 season.
” Benfica is a great club, I know that! I want to be part of this family , I’m ready to give my best, help my teammates and achieve our goals for the season,” said the newcomer to the squad of the six-time national champions,” added Akekoromowei.
The former Bayelsa Queens striker also recalled the words of Christy Ucheibe , former Benfica player, and highlighted the positive impact that the testimony had.
“Christy Ucheibe plays for the senior national team, I saw her play for Benfica and win titles. I want to achieve the same. She told me many good things about Benfica ,” she declared.
