The Naira strengthened against the dollar in both the official and parallel foreign‑exchange markets on Monday, giving the week a positive start.
According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, the official rate moved to N1,374.91 per dollar, up from N1,375.46 on Friday of the previous week.
This represents a modest appreciation of 0.53 percent compared with the rate of N1,375.46 last Friday.
On the black‑market side, the Naira also rose, trading at N1,395 per dollar during the same period.
The country’s foreign reserves were reported at $48.98 billion as of May 22, 2026, according to the apex bank.
For context, the Naira had fallen against the dollar on Friday last week, ending that week on a negative note.
