Dollar to Naira exchange rate today, May 22, 2026: Nigerian currency ends the week on negative note

The naira weakened on Friday, falling against the dollar in the official foreign exchange market and ending the week on a negative note.

According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, the naira slipped to N1,375.46 per dollar on Friday, compared with N1,372.31 on Thursday.

This represents a daily decline of N3.15.

At the black market, the naira held steady at N1,400 per dollar on Friday, the same rate that had been observed since Monday.

The move comes as the country’s foreign reserves increased to $48.89 billion as of May 21, 2026, up from $48.72 billion two days earlier, according to apex bank data.

DAILY POST reports that during the week under review, the naira experienced both gains and losses against the dollar in the official foreign exchange market.
