Dollar to Naira exchange rate today, June 1, 2026: Nigerian currency records significant appreciation

The Nigerian naira gained noticeably against the U.S. dollar on Monday, giving the month of June 2026 a positive start at the official foreign exchange market.

According to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the naira strengthened to N1,366.79 per dollar on Monday, compared with N1,373.26 on Friday of the previous week.

That represents an official market gain of N6.47 per dollar.

In the parallel black market, Abubakar Bengazzi, a Bureau de Change operator, reported that the naira traded at N1,395 per dollar on Monday, the same rate observed on Friday.

Thus, the spread between the black market and the official market was N28.21 per dollar.

On May 29, 2026, Nigeria’s foreign reserves were reported by the apex bank to total $49.58 billion.

Previously, the naira had appreciated on Friday, ending the week on a bullish note.
