Dollar to Naira exchange rate today, May 25, 2026

On Monday, May 25 2026, the Nigerian naira remained within a narrow band against the U.S. dollar, both on the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) and in the parallel market.

According to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s NFEM window, the official rate was about ₦1,375 per dollar, matching the closing rate of ₦1,375.46/$ recorded on May 22.

In contrast, rates in the parallel market—often referred to as the black market—were slightly higher. Bureau de Change operators in Lagos and Abuja quoted buying dollars at roughly ₦1,385 and selling between ₦1,395 and ₦1,400.

Retail forex tracking platforms also reported the naira trading near ₦1,397/$ in the street market early on Monday.

The spread between the official NFEM rate and the parallel market rate continues to signal demand pressure in the retail foreign exchange sector, even as the Central Bank implements reforms and interventions.

Analysts attribute the naira’s recent steadiness to improved dollar liquidity and tighter monetary conditions, while noting that import demand and external market volatility still pose risks.

In the official market, the NFEM rate serves as the benchmark used by the CBN and is calculated through a volume‑weighted average system.
