The Deputy Inspector‑General of Police (DIG) responsible for Training and Development, and the Coordinating DIG for the North‑Central Geo‑Political Zone, Isyaku Mohammed, reiterated the commitment of Inspector‑General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu to reduce crime and improve public safety nationwide, with a particular focus on Nasarawa State.
Mohammed made the statement during an official inspection of the Nasarawa State Police Command. He met with key stakeholders, including heads of security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, transport union representatives, members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, the Inter‑Party Advisory Council (IPAC), the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), command officers, and members of the public.

Addressing the gathering, Mohammed conveyed the Inspector‑General’s assurances that the Nigeria Police Force is determined to tackle crime, strengthen public confidence, and promote a safer society.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and community stakeholders, noting that sustainable security can only be achieved through collective effort.
According to him, “effective policing must be rooted at the grassroots level,” adding that officers should confront criminal elements directly through proactive policing, intelligence‑led operations, and enhanced visibility policing designed to deny criminals the opportunity to operate.

The DIG also directed officers to intensify enforcement against unregistered vehicles, vehicles with defaced or obscured number plates, and those displaying manufacturer logos instead of approved registration numbers. He urged personnel to carry out their duties professionally and without extortion, harassment, or misconduct.
Mohammed further cautioned tactical teams and operational personnel to conduct all operations within the confines of the law and in strict adherence to human rights principles.
He warned against actions that could erode public trust in the police, emphasizing the need for professionalism, accountability, discipline, and respect for citizens’ rights.

The DIG also expressed the Inspector‑General’s appreciation for the officers and men of the Force for their sacrifices and dedication in combating crime nationwide, and assured personnel that their welfare remains a top priority of police leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isyaka Dauda, the Emir commended the Nigeria Police Force for maintaining peace and security across Nasarawa State.
He disclosed that the Emirate Council supports security agencies through weekly security meetings involving traditional rulers across the state to address emerging challenges and develop local solutions.
Other stakeholders at the meeting praised the leadership of the Inspector‑General of Police and the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police for what they described as significant improvements in the state’s security situation.

They appealed for additional manpower, operational vehicles, and logistics support to strengthen the command’s capacity to respond effectively to security threats.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, assured the DIG that the command would continue to implement directives aimed at strengthening community policing and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the state.
The visit, according to the police, underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to stakeholder engagement, intelligence‑led policing, and community partnership as critical strategies for sustaining peace and enhancing public safety in Nasarawa State.
