Diagne says only Osimhen can break his long‑standing record in Turkey

Former Senegal international Mbaye Diagne has suggested that Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen could surpass his long‑standing Turkish Süper Lig scoring record.

Diagne holds the record for the most goals by a foreign player in a single Süper Lig season.

He reached that milestone by netting 30 goals in the 2018‑2019 season while playing for Kasımpaşa and later Galatasaray.

During the first half of that campaign, Diagne scored 20 goals in 17 matches for Kasımpaşa, then added 10 goals in 12 games after transferring to Galatasaray.

When discussing his record, Diagne said he would only feel comfortable if Osimhen were the one to eclipse it.

“I’m happy, very happy. I have scored a lot of goals. I’m also happy to be the top scorer here,” Diagne told Turkish newspaper Vatan.

He added: “Nobody has broken my goal record in the Super League. They probably won’t be able to. I could only accept it if my friend Osimhen broke it, but it is impossible for anyone else to break it.”

This season, Osimhen has recorded 15 Süper Lig goals for Galatasaray, whereas his Nigerian teammate Paul Onuachu has tallied 22.
