Davide Ancelotti Appointed as Lille’s New Head Coach

Lille announced on Monday that Davide Ancelotti, the son of former Italy manager Carlo Ancelotti and current assistant coach for the Brazil national team, will take over as the club’s head coach following Bruno Genesio’s exit.

The 36‑year‑old has signed a two‑year contract with the French side, though the club has not clarified whether he will remain with Brazil’s coaching staff ahead of the World Cup, scheduled from 11 June to 19 July.

This appointment marks Ancelotti’s second stint as a head coach. He spent six months leading Brazilian club Botafogo last year.

“I’m very proud and happy,” Ancelotti said. “It’s an honour to represent Lille.”

“They are a serious, ambitious, competitive club who are regularly playing European football,” the former AC Milan academy product added.

Lille qualified for next season’s Champions League by finishing third in Ligue 1, 15 points behind champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The new Ligue 1 campaign will start on the weekend of 22–23 August.
