Daura disputes Yusuf Buhari’s candidacy, alleges irregularities in APC parliamentary primaries

Auwalu Lawan Daura, a prominent contender for the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination in the Daura/Sandamu/Mai adua Federal Constituency of Katsina State, has voiced concerns about the conduct of the party’s ongoing primaries.

Daura, who is the only candidate reportedly opposing the selection of Yusuf Buhari—son of former President Muhammadu Buhari—as the consensus nominee, expressed dissatisfaction with how the direct primaries were carried out by the APC.

He claimed that the process did not adhere to party guidelines and questioned the credibility of those involved in the voting.

"I am not satisfied with what happened today. Evidence is everywhere showing the injustice that was done. The manner of counting was highly dubious, and most of the people counted did not even have party membership cards," he said.

Daura also explained that his participation in the contest was motivated by a desire to ensure fairness, insisting that the call for primaries reflected the will of party members.

"When I started this political movement, I made it clear that it was about the will of the people. When a consensus candidate was said to have been adopted, the people said no, they wanted us to go for primaries. Therefore, my insistence was not a sign of disrespect, but rather a demonstration of our support for justice and fairness," he added.
