Marc Cucurella’s wife, Claudia Rodríguez, said she is in shock after the defender’s unexpected move from Chelsea to Real Madrid.

The Spain international’s transfer to the Spanish club was confirmed on Monday, ending his four‑year tenure at Stamford Bridge and bringing him back to his homeland.

Rodríguez’s emotional farewell followed the announcement of the defender’s rapid £51.8 million move to LaLiga giants Real Madrid.

Reflecting on the family’s four years in London, she posted on Instagram that she does not know how to explain to their three children that Chelsea is no longer part of their lives.

She noted that they arrived in London with two babies and are leaving with three children (two boys and a British girl), making it particularly difficult to explain the sudden move.

“I don’t know how to say goodbye to my home,” Rodríguez wrote.

In a lengthy post, she reflected on the family’s journey since arriving in England and the experiences they shared during Cucurella’s time at Brighton and Chelsea.

“Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this experience,” she said.

“I feel so lucky for everything we’ve shared these past years.”

“I arrived with two babies and I’m leaving with two little boys and a British girl.”

Rodríguez also spoke about the difficulty of explaining the move to the couple’s children.

“I don’t know how I’m going to explain to them that Chelsea is no longer part of our lives,” she added.

Clarifying that her farewell message reflected her own feelings, Rodríguez later added: “I’m exploding with pride and happiness. Let the adventure begin.”
