*Slams N20m cost against plaintiff
Alex Enumah in Abuja
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that former President Goodluck Jonathan is eligible to run in the 2027 general elections.
Justice Peter Lifu delivered the judgment in a suit that sought to bar Jonathan from future presidential contests, noting that he has already served two terms as president.
Justice Lifu dismissed the suit, calling it an abuse of the court process.
He explained that the case was a waste of the court’s time because both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal had already decided on Jonathan’s eligibility.
“I am bound by the above decision of the Court of Appeal and this court, I have no more to add,” Lifu said.
He also imposed a cost of N20 million on the plaintiff in favor of Jonathan and N1 million in favor of the Attorney‑General of the Federation.
