A commercial bus driver was killed on Tuesday after a fatal multi‑vehicle crash in the Cele inward Oshodi area of Lagos.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement released by its Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq.

The crash involved a commercial mini‑bus known as a “Korokpe” and a Toyota Tundra pickup truck bearing the registration number EPE 554 YC.

Security personnel on the scene reported that the bus driver sustained severe injuries from the impact and died instantly.

LASTMA officers who were conducting routine traffic monitoring along the corridor arrived quickly to coordinate emergency response, manage traffic flow, and prevent further congestion on the busy route.

The agency worked with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force Cele‑Ijesha Division to recover the deceased driver’s remains.

The body was later handed over to the driver’s family in the area.

The statement added that the damaged vehicles were promptly removed from the road by LASTMA officials to restore normal traffic flow and ensure public safety.

Both vehicles were then handed to the police for a detailed investigation to determine the immediate and remote causes of the accident and any legal responsibilities.

“The vehicles were thereafter handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for exhaustive investigation into both the immediate and remote causes of the crash, with a view to determining liability and facilitating any necessary legal proceedings,” the statement read.

Despite the disruption, traffic movement was restored along the corridor after swift intervention and traffic‑management measures implemented by LASTMA personnel.

In response to the incident, LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare‑Oki expressed sympathy for the family of the deceased and urged motorists—especially commercial drivers—to drive responsibly and obey traffic regulations.
