Nigerian comedian and activist MC Okrika has claimed that his life is in danger, saying that certain police officers are targeting him after he documented alleged misconduct by officers in Cross River State.
In a video that went viral and was referenced by the Daily Post, MC Okrika urged the Inspector General of Police, the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, and the state government to take action.
“As I speak, my life is at risk. My life is totally at risk because I exposed the evil the police dey do. Because I exposed some policemen smoking Indian hemp, I videoed it and posted it online,” he said.
He said he released the footage after observing police officers allegedly harassing a young man and demanding money from him.
“Police harassed a young man and collected money from him and I decided to bring it out because I could no longer hide it and I can no longer keep it. My life is at risk.”
“If anything happens to me, the police force should be held accountable because I know the threats I have received, I know the curses I have received. The police are after my life right now,” he added.
