Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, instructed the newly trained soldiers of the 90 Regular Recruit Intake to act decisively against terrorists and criminal elements, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and respect for human rights.

Colonel Appolonia Anele, acting Director of Army Public Relations, stated that the directive was issued on Saturday, June 20 2026, during the Passing Out Parade at the Depot of the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The statement added that the Army Chief highlighted the crucial role the new soldiers would play in ongoing operations to protect national security.

He noted that after intensive military training—covering counter‑terrorism and counter‑insurgency operations—the troops are fully equipped to confront all threats facing the nation.

Lt. Gen. Shaibu stressed that, although the Nigerian Army is determined to deny criminal elements any sanctuary, all operations must strictly follow the Rules of Engagement and the Law of Armed Conflict.

The COAS also noted the ongoing support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander‑in‑Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, in enhancing the Armed Forces’ capacity.

He was quoted as saying that Nigerians expect the new soldiers to show discipline, operational excellence, and unwavering loyalty to the Constitution.

He warned against the misuse of social media, noting that unprofessional online conduct and unauthorized disclosure of information could jeopardise operational security and undermine national efforts to combat insecurity.

Reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the COAS assured that the newly inducted soldiers would play a vital role in sustaining ongoing offensives designed to restore peace, stability, and security throughout the country.
