Before the buzz around Chike Osebuka’s alleged affair with Sandra Onyenucheya, the romantic comedy “Call of My Life” was already slated for a theatrical release. The rumor has split social media, with some fans defending the singer while others harshly criticize his supposed romance with Sandra, who is the estranged wife of media personality Frank Edoho.
Online discussions turned the story into entertainment, producing jokes, memes, and backlash. Yet the reality at the film’s premiere on May 16–17, 2026, was different. Chike, who contributed a soundtrack and vocal features, attended the star‑studded event as the movie opened nationwide.
His appearance attracted large crowds; female fans lined the venue to photograph and meet him, with meet‑and‑greet sessions continuing at Filmhouse Landmark over the weekend. Other celebrities, including Afrobeats superstar Davido, also attended to support the screening.
“Call of My Life” is a culturally grounded Nollywood rom‑com that follows Soluchi, a hopeless romantic healing from a breakup with former lover Kalu. When a routine work call connects her with the charming Eli, Soluchi sees the possibility of the love story she has always wanted.
The cast features Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwo, Zubby Michael, Uzoamaka “Power” Aniunoh, Beverly Osu, and Broda Shaggi. The film also includes live performances by Johnny Drille and Cobhams Asuquo.
Filmed in Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu, the movie is produced by Blessing Uzzi for Bluhouse Studios, with a screenplay by Uzoamaka “Power” Aniunoh.
It is Bluhouse Studios’ second theatrical release after “Freedom Way” last year. Director Dammy Twitch, known for commercials and music videos for artists such as Burna Boy and Davido, said he chose a romance because it felt instinctive and wanted his first feature film to reflect his heart, describing it as “rooted in love and happiness.”
Producer Blessing Uzzi added, “It was important for me to produce ‘Call of My Life’ to show the range of stories Bluhouse Studios can tell. After ‘Freedom Way,’ I wanted to explore something softer but equally meaningful. At a time when many feel jaded about love, I wanted to create a film that is hopeful and uplifting, a story that reminds us to believe in love again.”
